Was a horrible move. Guys a (frank)ing bum and our 4th line is so overrated by the organization. They haven't been nearly as effective as they where in the 2012 playoffs. |

That is a lot of ifs. Its time Josefson gets a legitimate shot to see what he has. |

There were def much better UFA 4th line options and I'm still bitter over his bone head hit from behind in SCF that got him a 5 min major. My thoughts are his signing (due to amount) is really a try out contract. If he doesn't do well in camp he hopefully will be placed on waivers. |

Good depth signing. I could see him being a scratch or playing in albany to start the season. People may hate this signing now, but when injuries pile up, you'll be glad for the extra depth. |

Rather Matteau, Boucher or anyone get a look when injuries occur. |

Todd Cordell: On Steve Bernier - Todd.Cordell
It's a good depth signing. There has to be some appreciation for how mediocre this group of fowards really is.
Competition for the bottom 6 in this training camp is a good thing. That's really all he is. Competition and depth.
His skill level is obviously lacking, but you can bet that if Bernier is on the boards, Matteau, Brunner, Josefson, or Boucher is going to have to work a little bit to win the puck. I think that's something the coaching staff needs to see.
For the record I think Josefson is soft and has had plenty of opportunities. Boucher is a year away. I hope Matteau can work his way into that bottom six. I think it's good to have these extra forwards around though. They're going to make him earn it.
How quickly people forget that spots have basically been handed out in the past because of the lack of forward depth. Matteau was handed a spot two years ago. Brunner was handed a spot last year.
Atleast now they're going to work. |

Lou did say one of his top priorities was getting the 4th line re signed so it is not really that far fetched that he was, well re signed. The confusing thing is more to me that Carter hasn't been. Bernier did not play exceptionally well last year but most of the Devils offense didn't either. All in all CBGB has been a pretty decent 4th line over the past few years. I wonder if Havlat wasn't planned and now they are trying to figure it out. Bernier also is a big guy and throws his weight around so that is a plus when we have a few marshmallows.
It definitely doesn't hurt to have spare parts laying around when you drive an old rusty truck.

Hey if you're into that and think you can, I won't judge. Might have better luck impersonating a cop and going after Giroux. |

he aint all that bad he was a consitent 15 goal scorer at one point in his career but lost minuites when he came here he accepts his role and plays decent i love cbgb... plus yall forget he was drafted over parise, getzlaf, perry, kesler and mike richards haha thats too funny |

I agree, and it's this kind of bumbling halfass GMing that puts us in the position we are in. Holding onto guys like bernier keep this team where it is - not quite crappy enough to ditch it all, but juuust crappy enough to keep us believing that it maybe...if it all goes right...you never know....
So let's look for a tiny gleam in the contract terms and price, and think happy thoughts.

You don't need to have every guy on the bottom six to be physical. Looking at our bottom six we have Clowe, Gionta, Bernier, Ruutu and maybe Carter. The only thing that Gionta does that JJ really doesn't do is hit that's it. Gionta production is not impressive either and I think JJ could match it if he played more than 2 games every three weeks. The CBGB line was great when we went to the cup and the lockout year, but it has faded, sign Carter, put JJ in the middle, and either Gionta/Bernier or Ruutu on the right. Everybody wants young guys, JJ is 23, but they want them to produce like a first line player when at this point JJ is a fourth line player, he should be in over Gionta. And Brunner did earn his spot in training camp last year, that's why we signed him. |

I'm actually pretty optimistic about the team this year. If we can continue to stay competitive in games with a little more goal support from Jagr actually having a goal scoring winger (and with some shootout goals!), we can find a way into the playoffs. Relative to this post, Steve Bernier is a clown. At least Cam Janssen makes me smile. |

I don't forget that because I find it hilarious
Also he sucks because he was given more minutes last year and did less than he's ever done in his entire career |
